Will Signing and Covid-19

  • Posted

The demand for Wills over the past few months in light of Covid-19 has seen a 75% increase in those creating or updating Wills. It is more important than ever to ensure the ability to create a valid Will which will be in line with your wishes and provides peace of mind to you and your family.

The Law Society have confirmed Solicitor’s acting in connection with the Execution of Wills are key workers so solicitors at Johnson Astills can still assist with both the taking of instructions for your Will and it’s valid execution.

In order to conform to the Government’s Social Distancing guidelines, your initial meeting can be conducted remotely; our favoured method has been via video call (such as skype) to  give a face to face meeting.

We will then draft the Wills in accordance with your instructions and send you a draft copy by email or post. We will then talk through the approved final version to ensure you are happy to proceed with signing the Will.

Our Solicitors at Johnson Astills can then attend an ‘al-fresco’ Will signing, which will last around 15 minutes, whilst maintaining the guidelines on social distancing. We have been lucky so far with the weather being on our side during signings, however we are not afraid to put our raincoats on if necessary!

As our way of saying thank you, Johnson Astills are offering a 20% discount on our Wills prices to all NHS key workers.

If you would like to speak to one of our expert Solicitors to discuss making or amending a Will please give us a call at our Leicester office on 0116 255 4855 or our Loughborough office on 01509 610312.
