Laura Cotton


Laura obtained her degree in Law in 2017 and completed the Legal Practice Course in 2018 at Nottingham Trent University. Laura joined Johnson Astills in 2019 as a Paralegal. She secured a training contract completing seats in Private Client, Crime and Family. During her time as a time as a Trainee Laura was granted Rights of Audience by the Family Court meaning she was able to represent clients in Court for Family matters. Laura qualified in March 2022.

Laura has a compassionate and pragmatic approach, ensuring clients understand the legal process at all times. She is often acknowledged by clients for being approachable and responsive.

Laura specialises in all aspects of relationship breakdown and arrangements for children including:

  • Financial Settlements on relationship breakdown between married and unmarried couples
  • Divorce, Judicial Separation, and dissolution of Civil Partnerships
  • Arrangements for children including; Parental Responsibility Orders, Child Arrangements Order, Specific Issue Order and Prohibited Steps Orders
