Leicester Pride 2019

Emery Johnson Astills had a successful day at Leicester Pride on Saturday 31st August 2019. The event is Leicester’s annual Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) festival and takes place at Victoria Park which is a short walk from Leicester City Centre.

Leicester Pride is a family-friendly event, with live entertainment, market stalls and much more going on. There is also a parade that marches through the city centre and ends at Victoria Park.

Jessica, Trisha, Jade, Laura, Nanita, Gemma, Sharon, Rhian, Zara and Jasmine were on hand to speak to the festival goers about what we do and give out our Emery Johnson Astills freebies (that went down a treat as always).

It has been reported that over 10,000 people were on Victoria Park for the festival and we think it was even busier than last year!  Despite the 10 minutes of torrential downpour, everyone was in good spirits and had an enjoyable day.

Leicester is a very diverse city and we proud to have our largest office here. Emery Johnson Astills is committed to promoting equality and diversity for all are proud to be known as a LGBT friendly firm.

If you walk past our Leicester office, you will spot a rainbow flag in the window!

English Martyrs’ Catholic School Futures Evening

Jessica, Gemma and Priya also attended a careers evening on Tuesday 17th September 2019 and spoke to lots of year 11, 12 and 13 students about a career in Law. This is the third time we have attended English Martyrs’ and we are always very impressed by how enthusiastic the students are.

Gemma (left) is a Solicitor who specialises in Child Law and Crime, Jessica is a Solicitor who specialises in Wills and Probate (centre) and Priya (right) is a Trainee Solicitor who is currently undergoing her final seat of her Training Contact in our Wills and Probate department.

Gemma, Jessica and Priya all are Law graduates who went on to complete the Legal Practice Course (LPC). When they joined Emery Johnson Astills they were all offered a Training Contract which is essentially a placement undertaken by Trainee Solicitors which is a little bit like an apprenticeship.

Keep your eyes peeled for more updates about what Emery Johnson Astills has been up to.
