Halloween often sees the rise in anti-social behaviour crimes, with people out ‘trick or treating’. But this year Halloween falls on Friday 31st October 2025, with the spooky occasion falling on a Friday, police are expecting a rise in those driving under the influence of alcohol and are likely to be out in force.
Police will be looking to catch those driving under the influence of alcohol, the law requires the police to have evidence of a suspect having driven a vehicle whilst over the legal limit.
What is the legal limit?
In England, the level of alcohol is as follows;
Micrograms per 100 millilitres of breath – 35
Milligrammes per 100 millilitres of blood – 80
Milligrammes per 100 millilitres or urine – 107
There are strict penalties if you are caught driving over the legal limit.
The penalties – what are they?
You could be imprisoned, banned from driving and fined if you are found guilty of drink driving. The biggest impact drivers find is the disqualification that the Court must impose for a minimum term of at least 12 months.
