Monkey dust: Terrifying Drug now on UK streets for £2

  • Posted

A new psychoactive substance has sparked a crisis in a UK city - where the drug is bought for as little as £2 a hit.

The synthetic drug, dubbed 'monkey dust', is sending increasing numbers of people into violent and psychotic episodes in the UK. 'Monkey dust', similar to PCP, typically comes in the form of a powder.

Also known by the sinister monikers 'Zombie Dust' and 'Cannibal Dust', it stops users from feeling pain and causes agitation, severe paranoia and hallucinations. Furthermore, it can also induce hypothermia by producing high body temperatures.

The effects of the synthetic drug can last for several days, with the most serious cases requiring emergency hospital treatment. Emergency services are said to be dealing with an epidemic, where they encounter psychotic and violent patients hooked on the substance daily.

Worryingly, the drug, also called MDPV, can be picked up for as little as £2.

Despite several Police raids, the source of the supply remains unclear. It is not only illegal to buy and sell drugs but can also be very dangerous and potentially fatal.
