At Johnson Astills, we understand that dementia affects not only those living with the condition, but also their families and loved ones. Our Wills & Probate team, regularly meet clients who may be living with dementia or supporting someone who is. We believe that providing excellent legal advice starts with understanding the people we are helping.
We are proud to say that every member of our Wills & Probate team is a Dementia Friend.
A Dementia Friend is someone who has taken part in a Dementia Friends information session through the Alzheimer’s Society. The programme helps people understand what it is like to live with dementia, challenges common misconceptions, and encourages simple actions that can make a real difference to those affected.
Being a Dementia Friend means having a greater awareness, showing patience and understanding, and helping to create a more supportive and inclusive community.
This knowledge is invaluable in our day-to-day work as we strive to ensure every client feels comfortable, respected and listened to. We recognise the importance of communicating clearly, allowing clients the time they need, and ensuring they are fully supported throughout the legal process.
Our commitment to supporting those affected by dementia extends beyond the office.
Recently, a team of 13 colleagues from Johnson Astills took on the Alzheimer’s Society Trek26 challenge, completing a 13-mile walk through the Peak District to raise funds for the charity. Thanks to the incredible generosity of our, colleagues, friends and family, we raised an amazing £3,471 to support the Alzheimer’s Society and the vital work they do in funding research, providing support services and campaigning for those affected by dementia.
