We don’t offer a free initial consultation because our commitment to expert, personal guidance means that, from your very first meeting, you will spend time with the Emery Johnson Astills professional who will help you to achieve your desired outcome.
Helping You Budget For Legal Services
At Emery Johnson Astills, although we believe in the old adage that “you get what you pay for”, we also appreciate that no-one likes to pay more than they need to, whether that’s for a car, a coffee maker or a Co-habitation Agreement.
To keep the cost of our specialist legal services within the budget of as many clients as possible, yet recognising the level of qualification and expertise of our team, we will explore with you at a first appointment a range of pricing options. This will be possible once we have a clear understanding of your case, the issues involved, any complex features, timescales and what it is you wish to achieve in terms of outcome. These pricing options will be bespoke to you and may be a traditional hourly rate if that is your preference or it may be a fixed fee.
Your Initial Consultation
We do not offer a free initial consultation because our commitment to expert, personal guidance means that, from your very first meeting, you will spend time with the Emery Johnson Astills professional who will help you to achieve your desired outcome.
These initial consultations are very important as they allow us to carry out a comprehensive assessment of your matter to be able to advise effectively and properly and to give you the best indication of what your matter may cost. They also allow us to discuss options that you may not have considered eg mediation, collaboration, arbitration. Crucially they give you the opportunity to meet us; to ensure we are the right solicitor for you. Advice and pricing options given at these appointments will always be confirmed subsequently with you in writing.
Many firms who offer free advice do not give advice and it is simply a mechanism to “get you through the door”. Alternatively advice may be from someone who is not qualified or sufficiently experienced in your matter.
A fixed fee allows you to budget for your case from the outset, with agreed timings for payments.
If a fixed fee package is not available or suitable, after our initial consultation we will provide you with an estimate of our fees and any other likely expenses, so you’ll know what to expect.
Unlike other solicitors, Emery Johnson Astills will not ask you to deposit this entire amount with us but will discuss fair and manageable financial arrangements for covering your fees.
Because the cost of legal action can be difficult to estimate, we will let you know if costs are likely to exceed our initial estimate and will not incur further expense without your permission to do so.
